Some Good News Amid the Outbreak – Vol 2

In an effort to spread some cheer, people all across the country have started putting their Christmas lights back up.

Two college students in New York have been enlisting volunteers to deliver groceries, medicine, and other necessities to the elderly and people who can't go out.  And in the first 72 hours, 1,300 people signed up.  They're calling the group, "Invisible Hands." And if that doesn't restore your faith in humanity, I don't know what will.

The owner of Naples Pizza, a Connecticut-based pizza place, has been making two trips daily to his local hospital bringing free pizza for the staff.

A self-isolated woman in Spain celebrated her 80th birthday surrounded by love and support all while staying in the comfort of her home. Her neighbors surprised her by singing "Happy Birthday" from their windows and balconies.

An IKEA in Sweden found 50,000 face masks in a warehouses and donated them all to a nearby hospital.

Hospitals are facing a shortage of ventilators, so over 300 engineers have banded together on Facebook to start a project called the Open Source Ventilator Project. The goal was to create a way for people to build ventilators out of readily available materials and 3-D printed components. A week later they have a prototype.

Grocery store employees are working extra hard to keep the shelves full and get customers what they need all while keeping the peace. Trader Joe's is thanking their employees by handing out bonuses.

Bars and restaurants are shuttered and a lot of people have been furloughed. To help ease their financial stress, the makes of Jameson Irish Whiskey have donated half-a-million dollars to the U.S. Bartenders' Guild which will help bartenders get through.
