A Battle Creek man is behind bars after police say he was caught up in an investigation into child pornography.

The Michigan State Police say Wednesday that they began their investigation after detectives were notified of a large amount of child porn being downloaded. The investigation led to a search warrant being carried out at the home of 29-year-old Jeffrey Oswald of Battle Creek, with digital evidence being seized.

Oswald has now been charged with child sexually abusive activity, possession of child sexually abusive material, and using a computer to commit a crime.

The Michigan State Police Computer Crimes Unit's Internet Crimes Against Children Task Force says that they encourage parents to educate their children about the safe use of the internet. To this end, they say there are a wide variety of resources you can access; the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children has a list at www.missingkids.org.

If you have information about child sexual exploitation or abuse, you can report it to the NCMEC at www.missingkids.org/cybertipline.
